For as long as Gabriella can remember
she has loved photography. Although born in England she spent her childhood in
Frankfurt, Germany, until the age of 9, when she moved back to England. From a
young age she took hundreds of photographs of her family and friends using
disposable cameras. She then decided to take it a bit more seriously and
studied the subject at A-level, before going on to the renowned photography
foundation at Filton College, Bristol.
In
2009 she graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree in Editorial
Photography. In the same year she was awarded The Tom Buckeridge Photography Prize and was short-listed for The Guardian Student Photographer of the
Year. Since graduating her work has been exhibited in group shows at the
DMH Stallard Gallery in Brighton, and at the Independent Photographers Gallery
in Battle. Recently she was the winner of the Editors Brief: Happenings on IdeasTap.
More recently in October 2010 Gabriella and fellow photographer, Murray Ballard, self-published One Week In Moscow - a photography book raising money for the charity Diabetes UK.
Currently,
Gabriella continues to concentrate on her personal work - Carbon Black, a documentary project about the demise of a major
manufacturing plant in Avonmouth, Bristol and a long-term project about her
mother.
